- If you watch Downton Abbey, you can probably see some similarities between Brendan’s character there and Valjean. Brendan is a phenomenal actor and he’d be able to portray the subtleties in Valjean as well as his anger, fear and compassion. It would be so beautiful
Michael Fassbender-Javert
- Michael Fassbender is a talented actor and menacingly handsome. I feel intimadated just watching him, which is exactly how you should feel with Javert
Amy Nuttall-Fantine
- You can’t tell her but Ms. Nuttall has a very innocent face and her character on Downton was a bitchy version of Fantine
Anton Yelchin-Marius Pontmercy
- After seeing “Like Crazy” I’m certain that he’d be able to portray passionate nostril, socially awkward, wonderful Marius.
Mia Wasikowska-Eponine
- She was such a revalation in Jane Eyre and she has such a sad, tired look without being unattractive.
Benedict Cumberbatch-Enjolras
- It was really important to me that my Enjolras have an interesting speaking voice and Benedict certainly has that. And look at him! He’s so…impressive, important, confident and passionate looking. Those eyes! I mean…he isn’t perhaps very Hugo canon but he would be a wonderful Enjolras. There would be no confusion about why he is the leader.
Harry Lloyd-Grantaire
- Harry Lloyd is wonderful and I love Grantaire so I wanted to make sure to cast him as someone I really liked. Can’t you just see him making crass remarks in the corner while Armie Hammer glares at him? Ah! It’d be perfect!
